Job Description

SUMMARY
 
The Business Analysis Specialist will manage the organization, analysis, visualization and reporting of the core automotive industry and U.S. economic information maintained by the Business Insights & Strategy Department. The position requires a strong analytical business mindset necessary for the preparation and presentation of often highly complex information in a visually engaging and insightful manner, often for Senior Executive review. It also requires a strong investigative predisposition in order find patterns in data and information that connects different data sets together to find insight and tell a compelling story. To be successful, the Business Analysis Specialist must be highly familiar with competitive and business intelligence best practices as well as with software platforms that will help improve analytics capabilities and presentations. Automotive industry experience is a plus.  This is a key support position that will ensure a solid data foundation for high quality analysis and reporting for Kia executive management.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY
  • Complete independent analysis and reporting of existing and new data sources, utilizing both internal and external vendor analytics resources, to provide insight on the auto industry, competitive products, new vehicle launches, retail and fleet sales and the economy.
  • Support ad-hoc department and executive requests for analysis, visualization, & report creation.
  • Manage and improve the ongoing collection, processing, tabulation and visualization of internal and external data sources to help facilitate quicker and more insightful analysis.
  • Manage the department’s segmentation, forecasting and economy data relationships with IHS Automotive & UCLA Anderson.
  • Manage the department’s budget execution & tracking activities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
 
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Finance or related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • MBA or other advanced analytical degree or equivalent work experience a plus.
  
Overall Related Experience:
  • Minimum 7 years academic + industry experience in data analysis, visualization and reporting, including advanced statistical and analytical techniques. Automotive industry preferred.
  • Experience in creating reports, charts and graphs using Excel and PowerPoint as main software for analysis and presentation. Experience using Tableau strongly preferred.
  • Experience in building, maintaining or utilizing business analytics dashboards preferred.
  • Familiarity with automotive data systems (such as Polk Insights, Polk Loyalty, PIN Explorer, mTAB) a plus. 
  • Experience with management of competitive and business intelligence vendors required.
  • Experience with additional analytical & database tools such as R, SPSS, SAS a plus.
                  
Position Requirements:
  • Occasional travel may be required domestically and/or internationally.
  • May need to work additional hours outside of normal business hours as required by the job, including weekends or holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
