Job Description

The Legal Intern will primarily provide support to attorneys and paralegals managing litigation for the company but will also assist in transactional and other matters. The Intern will assist the Legal Department by conducting research and providing analysis and counseling related to a variety of practice areas, which can include product liability, warranty law, advertising/marketing, employment, dealer franchise issues, contracts/business transactions, intellectual property, and regulatory matters. 


  • Perform legal research related to a variety of legal issues, including but not limited to product liability, warranty law, advertising/marketing, employment, dealer franchise issues, contracts/transactions, intellectual property, and regulatory matters.

  • Draft summaries, reports, correspondence, and other materials as requested, from research, fact gathering, or other materials for decision-making purposes.

  • Analyze legal situations, recommend plans of action and assist in implementing practical solutions.

  • Work on other projects as assigned.


  • Perform electronic legal research.

  • Analyze and interpret complex information in a timely manner.

  • Interact with KMA team members and outside vendors in a positive, customer-service oriented manner.

  • Produce professional summaries, reports, correspondence and other written materials.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Law student at an accredited institution. Candidates who complete their Juris Doctor degree in Spring 2018 are also eligible to apply.

Overall Related Experience:

  • Prior internships a plus.

  • Moot court competition and law school clinic experience a plus


  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Background knowledge on areas of practice, as mentioned above, a plus.

  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.

  • The initiative to see projects through to completion and completion of projects in a timely manner.


  • Compensation is $36/hr.

  • Commitment to a 10 week summer full-time internship, up to 40 hours a week starting in May, is required.

  • The intern will be located at KMA headquarters in Irvine, CA.
